Simple Syrup

Description

Simple syrup is a sweetening agent commonly used in cocktails to add flavor and balance. It’s made by dissolving equal parts sugar and water, which creates a clear, viscous liquid that easily blends with other ingredients.

What is a Simple Syrup?

Simple syrup is a mixture of sugar and water that is used as a sweetener in cocktails and other drinks.
The syrup is made by dissolving equal parts of granulated sugar and water over low heat, then allowing it to cool before use.

The syrup is a versatile ingredient that can be flavored with a variety of ingredients such as herbs, fruits, or spices to add a unique taste to cocktails.

One of the most common uses it’s in cocktails is to balance out the acidity of citrus juices. When making a cocktail with lemon or lime juice, adding the syrup can help to sweeten the drink and create a more well-rounded flavor.

It is also commonly used in tropical cocktails that feature rum or other sweet liquors.
Some bartenders also use it to help dilute strong alcoholic beverages or to create a smoother texture in the drink.

This is an essential ingredient in many classic cocktails, such as the Daiquiri, Tom Collins, and Mojito. By using it instead of granulated sugar, bartenders can ensure that the sugar is fully dissolved and evenly distributed throughout the drink, creating a more consistent flavor profile.

Overall, it is a crucial component in any bartender’s toolkit, and its versatility makes it a useful ingredient for a wide range of cocktails.
